Women At Home

We all know about it. Your standing there, in your kitchen, holding a really big pot, or a punch bowl...or anything.. wondering where to put it. You open a cabinet, and a bunch of plastic bowls come tumbling down on your head... you hope nobody saw. Your kitchen needs to be organized!

Plan a day to get it all together. Give yourself the whole day... afterall, it is the kitchen! Then, print this out, hand it to your husband or other male partner....a male friend will do....pull up the recliner and watch while he organizes your kitchen.

Here are some tips:
*If there is room for shelves, put shelves. These can be bought at a low price from any discount store, such as Wal-Mart or K-Mart.

*Hang it up. Buy some small hooks and nails to hang utensils, measuring cups, pot holders, etc.

*Get rid of the junk in the junk drawer....we know you have one!

*Use mason jars or canisters to store dry goods, such as rice, beans, popcorn, cereal, etc.

*Buy pot racks that slide. These are installed inside the cabinet. The pots and pans hang on hooks, and it all slides out so you can see them and get what you want, or put the pots and pans away. This leaves the bottom of the cabinet free for other things...such as the plastic bowls that were falling on your head. These can be found in most hardware stores.

*Stack plastic bowls inside each other according to size. Use a big plastic bowl or punch bowl to store the plastic lids.

*Get rid of the stuff you never use....have a yard sale, or donate these items to a charity.

*Group things together. Keep the green beans with the green beans, and the corn with the corn....in nice neat stacks. Not only is this more organized, it helps when you are making your grocery list. Put labels on the shelf if need be.

*Save space everywhere you can. Stack things according to size, putting the items you use the least on the bottom.

*Use space savers, such as utensil organizers, plastic containers, plastic vegetable bins, canisters, mason jars, racks of various breeds, and anything else you can find.

*Remember that men need CONSTANT supervision....so don't leave the recliner until he is finished organizing your kitchen...otherwise, it won't be done right.

Once your kitchen is organized, try to keep it so. Each week, go though and straighten things back up. You'll find that this saves you time in the long run.
